Adapter connects the 3/8" NPSM female threads of your faucet to 55/64"-27 female threads of the diverter valve. 

This is a rarely used size. If you used one of the colorful plastic keys to remove your aerator then use page 10 of the instructions to determine which metric sized adapter you need.
